We have reporting analysts here at work. We don’t fire them when the numbers coming back aren’t good.
I think I mentioned my position on this before. I don’t necessarily think this is a bad thing, it’s an opportunity to do some analysis and give everyone including the Fed to tweak their policies.
What I had a problem with last time is blaming the person reporting the numbers, not being able to identify what was inaccurate, and attempting to cut off transparency.

Firing the person who has had huge revisions consistently is a good thing. She was paid to get it right or as close to right as possible. She failed to do that by her own admissions.

I had a terrible audit experience with a big 4 firm this year where the lead in the weeds auditor was based in India. She was pleasant and all but it at least doubled the length of time it took to complete it with all the back and forth with timezones. That was not brought up in the engagement letter and I would have gladly paid more to not have to deal with any of that. I miss the days where f the auditors posting up for a month in a conference room and being able to walk in a discuss simple things face to face and get them checked off quickly (and stealing some of their snacks).
