21 million ain't enough

Hard to see another team giving him much more than that and he's FS to play for $1.5m(?) this year when he could be making $21m+

Rusty will make $56Million over the next three years if he goes the FREE THE SLAVE! route. and THEN sign a big deal.

I don't understand what he's doing, unless this for him is a game of chicken and he's waiting until he's 20 feet from the cliff before bailing.

The fact the Seahawks released those figures to the public shows they're at wit's end.

I preface this with the fact that I know very little about the NFL salary cap, the franchise tag, etc. But it looks to me the "FREE THE SLAVE" route would mean he'd earn around $45 million over the next 3 years. If he signs for $21 million over those years, he'd make $63 million. Am I missing something?

I drove a lot this weekend and heard a few 'experts' on the radio come up with the $56m number as follows: 1.5, 25 then 30 based upon expected cap increases.

Going this route makes a lot of sense if he wants out of Seattle... which he might three years from now after Carroll retires???

Here's where the salary cap numbers have been in the recent past and what they would need to be over the next two years to come up with your $56 million (based on QB's 13% of total)

2012 - $121 million (actual)
2013 - $123 million (actual)
2014 - $133 million (actual)
2015 - $143 million (actual)
2016 - $192 million
2017 - $231 million

Looks to me like those "experts" have their heads' buried up there arse. From what I've read, 2016 will be around $160 million, 2017 around $175 million. That makes Wilson's "FREE THE SLAVE" money grab for the next 3 years just south of $46 million. Based on my learning, $63 million is more than $46 million.

Even with your "expert's projections, I think $63 million is more than $56 million. But I was no math major, so I may be mistaken.

I'm sure those experts have their heads far up their asses, agreed.

They're just getting paid well for it, unlike you and me.

They are only getting paid because dumbshit lemmings believe the crap they spew, as opposed to digging a bit to get to the facts.

First off, its the only topic in the NFL... for those tiring of Brady's balls. It's timely in Seattle, too for some odd reason.

Rusty wants out. LA pays much more in endorsements and has a bigger voter base for him to launch his political career. If you can't see that, you're the idiot.

FYI, it's far from the only topic in the NFL right now. Perhaps that's true for the 12s, but for actual NFL fans, not even close.

I'm thinking @DerekJohnson has it right. This is a game of chicken, and I hope the Hawks stick to their guns. $21 million/year for Wilson, erasing this upcoming year, is about where the offer should be. Sticking to his guns will cost Wilson $10 million+. IMO, Hawks have leverage.

To pile on a bit, I looked at ESPN, CBS, Yahoo and SI's NFL sites. Between the 4 of them, there are over 40 top stories. Not one of them mentioned Russell Wilson.

It was the only topic in the NFL for 600fucking miles on the radio this weekend... and of course Brady's balls.

Wilson is printing money every single day this topic leads. He'll print even more if he plays out this season at 1.5. Stop worrying. Rusty gonna eat.

He's fighting for the biggest contract he can get. That doesn't mean he wants out.

81% chance he signs this week.

I don't think anyone is worried. Everyone knows "Rusty" gonna eat.
