Perhaps. There were definitely certain posters who pointed out at the time that it was silly to read anything into this quote and that Mora's profile screamed great recruiter. Which at this point he certainly appears to be.
But the point remains the same. The man admiited himself he couldn't see himself as a good recruiter and red flags were raised becasue of it. That doesn't mean his quotes should have been ignored but some will apologize and make excuses for him no matter what.
Recruiting to UCLA isn't as difficult as most other programs.
