    Husky Jacks open thread [2025]

After that clip ends, Christian Caple had a follow up and Fisch clarified that he misspoke and meant retire. You can see the clip on the On Montlake YouTube channel if you're a see-it-to-believe-it kinda cat.

Freshmen OL bring impressive size boost to Washington's front

I remember the chatter in summer 2008 being that the OL would be big and a strength of the team, especially with Juan Garcia!! back early from injury. Since then, I've assumed talk of UW having a big OL = fat and useless

With Williams barely playing, Rutgers got off easy

Fair enough. I hadn't thought about it that way. You're right and I take back what I said.

With Williams barely playing, Rutgers got off easy

OK. You don't like Rogers playing, but what is the practical benefit of playing Demond this year? UW lost 6 regular season games. Let's assume Demond doesn't get hurt from being reckless when scrambling and that every game Rogers won Demond also wins. What other games does UW win with Demond...

With Williams barely playing, Rutgers got off easy

You play to win games, plural. If the cost of winning a single game has a high probability of losing you more games down the road, then on net that isn't a winning transaction and head coaches should be expected to think longer term than the four quarters of a given game.

With Williams barely playing, Rutgers got off easy

Adding to this that Demond's worst habit is behaving like a running back when he scrambles. In very limited play this year, he's taken some big shots. There's no guarantee he would've made it through the 2024 season if he had 13 games of that behavior. If I'm Fisch, I'd want an offseason to...

With Williams barely playing, Rutgers got off easy

I think the argument is that QBs in particular that play behind a garbage OL early in their careers develop bad habits that extend beyond that habit forming season. If Demond is constantly running for his life with no pocket protection, does he develop a short internal clock that prevents him...

    UNC has an anti-nepotism policy

Didn't Kirk Ferentz get around this at Iowa by having his son report directly to the AD?

The win over Weber State might prove historic

Opponents in vacated games have to keep the loss on their official records, the penalized team just doesn't get to count the win. See p. 21 here: Policies.pdf (ncaa.org)

Dying to see who the DC hire will be

Ed Donatell is available. Kent Baer and Nick Holt, too. Sometimes a glut of options slows the process down.

The Fisching Report Recruiting Thread Sponsored by The Fisch Bowl

https://hardcorehusky.com/discussion/comment/1945438#Comment_1945438 I will acknowledge a few things: (1) DeBoer is going to be very successful at Alabama for the same reason he would've kept being very successful at UW: he's won a ton everywhere he's ever coached. (2) His time at UW is over...

Klemm Becomes 7th Husky OL to Enter Transfer Portal or NFL Draft

https://hardcorehusky.com/discussion/comment/1945090#Comment_1945090 RE: "Big Ten starters", we're in the Big Ten now. If we were still in the Pac-12, I'd have said "Pac-12 starters". My point wasn't to grovel at the feet of the almighty superconference, it was that what we're getting in the...

Klemm Becomes 7th Husky OL to Enter Transfer Portal or NFL Draft

https://hardcorehusky.com/discussion/comment/1945080#Comment_1945080 Is there a reason people believe that the spring portal is going to meaningfully change the line makeup of the team? Everything I've read and heard the past few years has been that the good players transfer in the December...

Are we Recruiting again? Fischer of Men Recruiting Thread - (Thread links)

I heard a stat not long ago (pretty sure on one of The Athletic's podcasts) that DTs/DEs in the 247 Top 100 had something like a 1 in 3 shot at being drafted in the worst class since 247 started (50/50 in better classes). That bodes well for Noah Carter probably being pretty good.
